Sailing yacht, Sula of Llangwm.

Having completed a seven year (41,000 mile) circumnavigation in July 2015, Sula's crew are now planning shore based adventures. We wouldn't want to see Sula left uncared for on her mooring; she needs to be sailing with a new owner at the helm. Therefore, with regret we must announce that...

Sula is for sale *

Sula on the River Fal

*May 2018, Sula has now been sold.
We wish the new owner fair winds and safe voyages.

Sula on her home mooring.

Sula is an Elizabethan 31.
Her full name is Sula of Llangwm.
She was built by Peter Webster in 1967.
She is a Bermudan sloop, with a long keel.

A secret anchorage in France

N.B. Fibre Glass was quite new in 1967. Boat builders didn't fully appreciate  the strength of GRP, so they made their yachts with more laminate than they do today. As a consequence, Sula is a trifle heavy by today's standards. She is also much stronger than modern production yachts. Quite frankly I'm very happy with that, I can sleep easy when off watch in mid ocean.

Strong winds, high seas and sunshine,
on passage to Australia.

A note from Sula's log:-
"We reduced sail to three reefs in the main, and a few rolls of jib.
The seas built considerably, but Sula looked after us.
The sun shone throughout, but inevitably spray filled the air."

A cutting from Sula's latest survey

"Sula has been consciously upgraded and well maintained by the very experienced owners who have sailed the yacht from the UK to New Zealand. The vessel is in generally good condition for its age and has a good range of equipment that appears to be in good serviceable condition.

No structural or any other significant defects were identified during the course of my inspection and the yacht can be considered suitable for local, and blue water insurance cover."

Murry F Reid
Marine Surveyor

Just another fantastic tropical anchorage.
